Rock N Roll Hall of Fame

I have been perplexed by the idea and execution of the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame. Most Halls of Fame induct members when they have completed their participation. For example, the Baseball Hall of Fame only inducts retired members, same with most others. What is confounding is the bands and individuals who are inducted into the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame are still working in that field. I just read that Metallica was being inducted this year. They certainly deserve it as much as anyone else, but they very recently released a new cd and are going on tour. That doesn't sound retired or out of the game to me.

I think it is nice that we honor the musicians that have impacted the music world, I just wonder if it should be called the Hall of Fame? I probably have too much free time right now and am focused on something with little importance in the real world, or my own life. But, that is where my mind takes me, so I follow.

first...i LOVE the new layout! i haven't checked them in a while...i should get them out!

2nd..you know how i feel about Metallica and all ...i hadn't heard :)

but with music you can play until you are like 100....so it's not quite the same as sports...if we waited until the musicians were retired, they'd probably be dead....and what if they retired and got inducted...could they un-retire or not, since they are in the H of F?

i don't know..food for thought....i like random thoughts...let's follow you're mind again :)

I agree with dellits... There's no real way to retire from music because chances are you'll always be able to play. So I think the way they do it makes sense. Has anyone ever been to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame? I work on behalf of Positively Cleveland, and we're getting the word out about the Rock Hall. I highly encourage all music fans to check it out. You can start on our website: http://www.positivelycleveland.com/visiting/things_to_do/cleveland_rocks/rock_hall. Also go to http://www.positivelycleveland.com/intheknow to enter to win passes to the Rock Hall AND a private tour from the curator!

Hope I haven't overstepped my bounds by leaving this comment; just working to let people know about what Cleveland has to offer! If you have any questions or concerns feel free to Email me :)
