What's Going On

Well, the class I am teaching is full. I have 25 freshman and 5 sophomores in my Public Speaking class this fall. UGH! Right now I am terrified as I am unprepared. I have some time to get things together. Next week Roger will start teaching me how to teach. I am excited and nauseated at the same time...doesn't that sound exciting? I am looking forward to the experience. I think in the end it will have been both valuable and fun.

I am working on my readings for the first chapter of my thesis. I appreciate all the help Avi has been giving me. We seem to work well together. We have our first discussion meeting tonight.

I have not been swimming enough lately. I need to get back into the habit of going to the pool. I think we will be spending some time at the beach this weekend. Roger will be done with everything but his dissertation officially on Friday afternoon. We will have to celebrate. Roger has been fighting a head cold or sinus infection. He seems to be getting better. If he complains he must really be sick!

Yesterday was my father-in-law's birthday. He is 79 and amazing. He is an amazing man who has led an amazing life. I relish each conversation, whether on the phone, by email or in person with Roger 1. I am lucky to be a part of his family.

My sister, Nikki, will be graduating in December. Hopefully, Roger and I will be back for the ceremony. I am so proud of the work she has done in school while working full time with Head Start.

Dad visited New York last week. I haven't heard how it went, yet. I will talk to him soon. Mom has been bummed about the weather in Minot, but has found ways to ride bike and get out. I'm not sure what the rest of the Schmid summer plans are.

I guess that is about all. I look forward to sleeping in a bit next week and finding my school only routine again. It has been interesting working for Dawn again, but I don't think the receptionist life is the one for me. I see now that academia calls my name.
