Favorite Weekend

Normally, this is my favorite weekend to stay in town. There is the Greek Festival, which we enjoyed last night and will again this afternoon. The Beer Festival is happening tomorrow at Town Point Park, Dawn didn't get a table for the event this year because her receptionist Phenice is having a baby shower tomorrow. The Stockley Gardens Art Festival is also happening. I love to peruse the art and enjoy cool and refreshing limeades from one of the vendors. And one of my friend's band is playing in Hampton, Seed Is.

But, we are leaving town. Our niece Betsy is playing in the NCAA Division III Women's Fast Pitch Softball National Championships this weekend in Salem, Virginia (2 miles from Lynchburg). Her dad, Jerry, is flying in today. We are leaving tonight to meet up with him and watch some games tomorrow. We are both extremely excited to see them. Roger loves to spend time with all of his family and his face lights up when we discuss our travel plans. I can't wait either. If the team gets eliminated early, Jerry may travel down here and bunk up with us for a couple of days...that would be fun.

So, this is still my favorite weekend of the spring/early summer. But I'll be cheering for Eau Claire Wisconsin, rather than hanging out at festivals.
