My war rant

The US backing of Shiite factions in Iraq has lead to violence against Sunnis that by some estimates have reached 50,000 Sunni deaths (possibly much more) and over 125,000 Sunni refugees in Syria. Part of the reason there is less violence in Iraq has nothing to do with the escalation (some prefer to call it a surge), but with that fact that the sectarian violence has ethnically cleansed many of the areas of conflict. Though it is horrible that we have lost nearly 4000 US military lives in Iraq, some estimates reach 150,000 in civilian deaths. I am not as polite as Kate on these issues. I think it TREASON to sacrifice 4000 US troops based on a lie. And I think it a war crime to kill civilians for political gain. The resources being expended on this war need to be use elsewhere.
