O, Brother

This has been the most gorgeous weather in Norfolk in a long time. We began our weekend with a trip to the Virginia Beach Farmers' Market. We got good deals on vegetables and some meat. It was fun to walk around and see what is available. We came home and made lunch. We took a nap. We went to the Naro to see Moliere, the French film about the French playwright. It was funny and poignant. It was good. We had dinner and then watched O Brother Where Art Thou. I had never seen it. Roger of course had and loved it. It is a funny retelling of Homer's the Odessey. I just watched the 1941 film, Sullivan's Travels, last Monday and the filmmaker in that movie wanted to make a movie called O Brother Where Art Thou. It is a comedy where the directer rides the rails to find out what it is like to be poor and homeless during the depression. He eventually ends up in a work prison. Of course, he gets out in the end (and gets the girl, it was Hollywood 1941!). There were scenes in the George Clooney, Cohen Brothers films that were even funnier having just seen the film which gave it its name. I haven't read Homer in at least 20 years, so was a little behind on my Greek mythology. But, the film was fun (except for that annoying old time music) and we enjoyed ourselves.

Today we are picking up Melanie and Tony for a walk on the oceanfront (I did not know it was Neptune Festival, but all the better) and lunch. It should be a nice day to be enjoying the beautiful Virginia autumn. If only the weather could stay like this forever...

Oh, and I heard that Elise (Roger's daughter) will probably see Brett Favre break Marino's record today...GO PACK!!!!

A Cohen Brothers film festival!!!! What a great idea for ODU to wake up the campus. I would even travel for something like that.
The PACK did GO!!!!!
It was an exclamating morning for me.

Elise did get to go to the game. She wore all Packer's geer (thanks to Mike) and had so much fun. Cohen Brothers Film Festival sounds ummm, funny, but annoying. Too much of a good thing at once might not be such good thing. Or maybe I am wrong (It has been known to happen on occasion!).
