Things I learned from Rachel Ray

I don't really like to watch her show anymore, and if I hear the terms "Yummo" or "EVOO" many more times, I just might scream. However, I learned a few things from her which have revolutionized my cooking.

Garbage Bowl--It's a great timesaver and it makes it so easy to clean up after I'm all done. I just need two, one for recyclables as well.

Smashing Garlic--It's fun and it makes chopping garlic simple.

I Have the Time to Cook Meals--Her recipes always take me longer than 30 minutes, but I have learned that I do have the time to cook and I do cook almost every day.

The Courage to Make Up Recipes--I have tried recipes that I have had at restaurants going on memory alone, and while they may not be exact, they usually turn out pretty well. I'll be attempting Kelly's white chili next.

So, thanks Rachel Ray for helping me with the confidence to cook for myself, and now my husband. We eat healthy and home-cooked meals all the time.

we have her "express lane meals" cookbook, but i haven't really enjoyed any of her recipes. she uses some really odd spices. i think i'm still a midwestern girl at heart --- give me meat, veggies and potatoes and i'm content ;) as long as the occassional she-crab soup gets tossed in there too! haha.

i think getting together for the OSU-Wisconsin game sounds like a great idea! when is it, again?
