Tough News

Before Roger defended his prospectus, his department got some sad news. George Haber, a new staff member this past summer in Roger's department, lost his wife to an automobile accident. Evidently, Monday night he called the department to cancel class because his wife and daughter were in a car accident. He told the office that everyone was okay. Yesterday, he called with the devastating news that his wife had died. The entire office was in shock. Roger and I thought about George and his three small children, but tried to celebrate Roger's triumph (and we did). But, Roger said he was up for a couple hours in the middle of the night thinking about them, and I've been up since before 6 a.m. thinking about how precious life can be. It can be taken away in an instant. I don't know what I would do if something happened to Roger, I have come to depend on him for so much emotionally and spiritually. I guess the lesson is to live life to the fullest every day. And always enjoy what we have without ever taking it for granted.

This sort of tragic news always makes us wake up and reminds us to be thankful for what we have.
So have a super Thanksgiving.
We will be quite quiet here in the city but we got enough points from the grocery for a free turkey!!!!
love to you both.
