Crab Cakes, Cuts and Burns

Well, I am finally getting around to making Roger's Valentine's Day dinner, crab cakes (made with potato chips), oven fries and asparagus. We ate the homemade chocolate pudding the past two nights, so we don't have dessert, but I have been saving my favorite Pinot Noir for tonight...The Crossings from New Zealand. In the process of making this fabulous dinner, I cut my pinky finger while cutting the potatoes and burned my middle finger on the griddle while making the crab cakes. Also, the crab cakes are more like mounds of crab stuff. They taste great (at least what I snitched) but don't really look a whole lot like crab cakes. Oh well. I am still trying.

I made Roger watch the Jane Austen Book Club last night which was an okay movie, but he was bored. Ah, love. I will be missing the Academy Awards next Sunday because I will be flying back from Salt Lake City for Roger's conference and presentation. In the end, it is definitely worth it, but I can't remember as an adult (or maybe even a teenager) ever missing the ceremony entirely. I will miss the memory section where they show pictures of all who died this past year. Heath Ledger would be sad. Oh well. Salt Lake City is a new place for both of us to explore...yeah!

Well, I guess I better get back to making the dinner. I don't want ruin it (or injure myself, again!).
