In just one week, I will be done working at Dawn's (again). I will still be going in once a week to do dictation letters until August, but won't be working regularly with patients. It is an exciting time for the practice. A new supervising tech was hired. Pam started yesterday. She has lots of experience and is already working up patients like she has worked there for years. I think the other tech's will enjoy working all together. Phenice will be trained as a tech over the next couple of months. Temika will train someone new to replace Phenice at the front. All will be well. I feel much more comfortable leaving this time than I did in August. With Dawn being my friend, I always have her practice as important to me. I don't feel that regret/dread I felt leaving her with Melissa last time. I think this is a much better, smoother and more positive transition.
I have been working at ODU with a different teacher doing research. We are sorting documents dealing with the franchise of the Lone Ranger and the Green Hornet. It is boring. It will get better when we start making arguements to the authorship of the characters. I see the excitement Avi sees, but must get through the drudgery first.
I believe I am off to Texas for a speech tournament this weekend. I have not heard any details and am unsure if it got booked or not. I guess I will find out today when I see Sam the speech president. It is always fun to travel with the team. I enjoy hearing so many speeches and like the friendships that form while traveling.
Roger is making decisions on his PhD Dissertation right now that will map out the next year and a half at ODU. It is fun to see his passion for education and teacher education, while realizing his goal is coming up soon. He is halfway there. His interest and genuine zeal for his studies is inspiring to me. I only hope I capture a little bit of that spirit.
I am thinking about working with James Bond this semester. His character is so unique as it has been played by multiple actors and the stories have morphed to accommodate changing politics and changing times. I am not sure the focus, yet, but if it means watching more Bond films, I am in!
I guess that is about all to catch up on right now. Enjoy what's left of your week.
