My Replacement and the End of Summer Institute (Finally!!)

It is very odd to be training your replacement. Steven started at Dr. Kerner's office last Thursday. He is a nice and energetic guy. He knows eyes, which is helpful. I think he will be a good addition to the team at the clinic. I feel a bit melancholy about leaving. Part of me (the majority) is excited about my new endeavor, but a little bit of me feels like I am leaving my family. I will miss daily interactions with Jennie, Melissa, Fran, Temika, Phenice and of course Dr. Kerner. I know we will remain friends, but I will miss that day-to-day visits.

Roger has only two days left of his PhD Summer Institute. I think we will both be glad to sleep in on Saturday and get back to normal. I miss him. It seems when he is home, he is doing homework. We eat supper together when he doesn't have social activities at school, and we have some time together in the mornings. I am excited that he is will be that much closer to finishing his program in two days.

Only one month until the big wedding in Bloomington, Minnesota. I am excited about that as well. We will have fun with family and friends that we haven't seen in a long time. We will have a good time that weekend. Then we return for the pot luck reception here at Fran's. That will be a lot of fun as well. Then fall semester starts and that is a brand new adventure.
